Dear 13-year-old

Dear 13-year-old, don't give up on things. This is one of my core values that my parent's and coaches have instilled in me throughout the years. My dad especially has taught me this. He has always told me that I shouldn't give half of my efforts when I'm doing something, but instead, I should give double by efforts at all the things that I do. He always told me that I have to work as hard as I can at whatever it is that I do. This is important to me because I have used this every day to make decisions in how I hard I work in school and sports. Every time I start a task, even the smallest one, I remind myself of my dad's important words of advice for never giving up and working as hard as you can on everything you do. I will always remember these words when I start anything.

Where Is It?

               Dr. Dean, a cardiac surgeon, hears the dreaded noise. Oh no, not that noise , Dr. Dean thinks to himself. He rushes to find the defibrillator.                "Where is it, where is it?" Dr. Dean whispers in a frustrated voice, meanwhile seeing no sign of the defibrillator he most desperately needed.                The nurses rush in. The anesthesiologist checks her calculations, making sure she did not make the mistake no one wanted to have to break to Bill's parents. Surgeons sprinting to find the nearest doctor that could help.                "How could I have let this happen? The world, that understandable and lawful world, was slipping away.  Once there was this and that; and now--and the ship had gone. [... Jack refusing to give Piggy the floor when he has the conch...] "The rules!" shouted Ralph.  "You're breaking the rules!" "Who cares?" Ralph summoned his wits. "Because the rules are the only thing we've got!" But Jack was shouting against him. "Bollocks to the rules!  We're strong--we hunt!  If there's a beast, we'll hunt it down!  We'll close in and beat and beat and beat--!" (91)                This paragraph shows that the boys were forgetting the organized society that they knew before they were deserted on the island. The boys civilization was breaking apart. As the civilization was breaking apart, the boys lost organization and order.
